How to Use ToolHamper Tools
Every tool runs in your browser. Here is exactly how it works.
The 30-second version
- Pick a tool from the homepage or the search bar.
- Add your file (click the upload box or drag and drop it) — or just type and paste for the text tools and calculators.
- Adjust the options if there are any, then press the action button.
- Download your result. Done — nothing was uploaded anywhere.
Your files never leave your device
ToolHamper tools are built with browser technology, so processing happens on your own phone or computer. We cannot see, receive, or store your files or text — there is no server upload step at all. Closing the tab clears everything the tool was holding in memory.
File limits and formats
- Size limit: 50 MB per file for upload tools. Very large files also depend on your device's memory — on phones, files under 20 MB are the smoothest.
- Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF can be opened by most image tools; output is JPG, PNG, or WebP.
- PDFs: standard, unencrypted PDF files. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened by design — remove the password with the app that created the file first.
- Text and calculators: no file needed — type or paste, and results update as you go or when you press Calculate.
Browser requirements
Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari with JavaScript enabled. The PDF tools load the well-known pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries from a public CDN when the page opens, so they need an internet connection for the page itself — your documents still never leave the device.
Troubleshooting
- A tool seems stuck: the file is probably very large for your device. Try a smaller file, close other tabs, or use a computer.
- The download did not start: some browsers block automatic downloads — check the download icon in the address bar and allow downloads for this site.
- A PDF will not open: it is likely password-protected or damaged. Both cases are reported with an on-screen message.
- Compression made a file bigger: that can happen with text-only PDFs and already-optimized images. The tool always shows the honest before/after size so you can keep the smaller file.
