Cropping tips
1:1 is the classic square for profile pictures and Instagram posts. 4:3 suits standard photos and slides. 16:9 matches video thumbnails and widescreens. 9:16 is the vertical story/reel format. Freeform lets you drag any rectangle you like.
Does cropping reduce quality?
The cropped area keeps its original pixels — cropping removes pixels around the edges but does not recompress the part you keep (PNG output is fully lossless). The result is smaller in dimensions, not degraded.
Can I crop on my phone?
Yes. The crop box uses touch-friendly pointer controls: drag to move, drag the corner circle to resize.
